Lego Miniman Turns 30; Childhood Officially Dead
Mr. and Ms. Miniman dressed up for their 30th birthday party. The Village People also attended.Photo: Jed Egan
Happy 30th birthday to the Lego Miniman, who enters a fourth decade of being accidentally swallowed, lost in the back seat, and stepped on by an irate, barefoot adult. We hadnt played with Legos in years before the fine people at Lego sent us this 30th Anniversary press kit, but we dont remember the little dudes having so many wardrobe options. Todays Miniman can go from the construction site to the ballroom with a mere switch of the head. As for the Mini Ms., she may be 30, but shes still working it. Or at least trying to, with an unfortunate pair of pink glittery hot pants. Plus cleavage! It's not as dramatic a change as the new, "improved" Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears, but it still hurts. After the jump, a video celebrating Minimans important role through these turbulent decades.

Miley Cyrus - Cyrus Scraps Gig
Rise Against Reveal All About Their New Album At Download
In between showing us their moon walk moves and creating new festival phrase ‘moon rock’, which according to Rise Against is the word du jour for moon walking round the Download site, the band have time to quickly update Gigwise on how their forthcoming album is coming along. For Gigwise's Download photo round-up, click the following links. Day One
The band have no firm decisions on a title for the album, apart from ‘Moon Rock’ which they are now considering, apparently.
Lead singer, Tim McIlrath said: “It’s mostly finished and is coming together really well. We’ve been working with Bill Stephenson and Jason Livermore. They’re really amazing producers.”
Both producers worked on Rise Against’s last album ‘The Suffer and the Witness’ and second album ‘Revolutions per Minute’ and the band were keen to work with them again.
Rise Against have said that they’ve been really happy keeping their sound organic and continuing to work with the same people.
Tim explained: “The more we delve into this music world and the bigger we get, the more we realise that we have nothing in common with that community. And it’s a weird, strange, foreign place.”
The band are playing a couple of shows this summer including some Warped dates. Their album is forthcoming.

Indie Artists Flock to Widgets as Solution for Adding Virality to Campaigns
Album Tracks
SAN FRANCISCO, May 23 -- Gydget, the social marketing
platform that allows music artists, labels, promoters and sports teams to
reach their audiences on social networking and fan-based Web sites, today
announced that Bay Area rapper/producer, Starski, will be releasing free
tracks from his new album, "Tomorrow Ain't Promised" through his viral fan
widget, or gydget, found on his MySpace page.
Direct-to-listener online campaigns have been a recent trend in the
music industry, with both major label and indie artists opting to give
their music away in lieu of, or in advance of, the commercial sale. "We
took a close look at what was happening in the industry and decided that
creating a buzz and getting Starski's music out there was the best way to
ensure his success," said Petey Pistorelo, A & R Director of Pimp Hop
Records. "We selected Gydget as the vehicle to distribute the tracks
because we wanted this campaign to be about fans telling friends about the
music. Gydget is the best way to create a complete music experience for a
fan's page. The gydget is like a mini-MySpace page that fans can promote to
their friends."
"Thanks to social networking sites and free fan-based marketing
solutions such as gydget, indie artists now have the power to get their
music heard, without having to rely on radio or more traditional label
marketing," said Gerardo Capiel, CEO of Gydget. "We're thrilled to see
Starski, and thousands of other indie bands taking their careers into their
own control and getting their music heard."
Chris Herche, Head of New Media at Koch Records agrees. "Styles P,
Myriad, Sheek Louch and Ray J are just a few of our indie artists using
Gydget. Gydget's free widget solution allows artists and labels to spread
their brand through social networking platforms, which is integral to an
album's success. Gydget also updates automatically based on changes to the
MySpace page, which saves us time and resources and keeps content fresh for
our fans."
Fans looking to download Starski's tracks for free can find them on the
Starski gydget on http://www.myspace.com/pimphoprecords. Bands and
promoters that want to create customizable widgets can create them for free
at http://www.gydget.com.

Report - Sick Former Wiggles Star Splits From His Wife
The ailing singer who was forced to quit superstar kids group THE WIGGLES has now reportedly split from his wife of 12 years.
Former Yellow Wiggle Greg Page was forced to quit the popular band last year (07) after dizzy spells made it almost impossible for him to perform onstage.
And now the Sydney Daily Telegraph reports Page and his wife are heading for a divorce.
The entertainer is refusing to talk about the split rumours. His publicist Carolyn Grant says, "He's not interested in talking about his family life. He's not going to comment."
But father-of-two Page reportedly no longer wears his wedding band and failed to mention his wife in a recent Australian magazine interview.
Page, who has been diagnosed with nervous condition orthostatic intolerance, and Michelle were married in 1996.

Piers Morgan wins The Celebrity Apprentice
Piers Morgan — a man frequently described as ruthless, vicious and evil — yesterday won the live final of The Celebrity Apprentice and raised $250,000 more than the rest of the contestants combined.
The former tabloid editor fought off the other 13 celebrities — including, Gene Simmons, Vincent Pastore, Tito Ortiz, Omarosa, Lennox Lewis, Marilu Henner, Nely Galn, Jennie Finch, Tiffany Fallon, Nadia Comaneci, Stephen Baldwin, Carol Alt, and Trace Adkins — winning more tasks than anybody else.
In a battle that was billed as “good versus evil, America versus Britain” by host Donald Trump, Morgan won the show’s prize of $250,000 dollars for charity in the final task, a celebrity auction and party.
